Hajan, on the way to chandanwari, is an idyllic spot for a picnic. Filmgoers will recognize it instantly as it has been the location of several movie scenes. Situated at the confluence of the streams flowing from sheshnag lake and the lidder river, pahalgam (2,130 m) was once a humble shepherd's village with breathtaking views.

Now it is kashmir's premier resort, cool even during the height of summer when the maximum temperature does not exceed 25 degrees , on the way to pahalgam you can visit awantipora temple ruins : this is an historic temple built by awanti warman from whom the place got its name as Awantipora. The place is usually misrecognized by the people saying pandavas place because the material used in building this place is usually panadava stones.

That's why people misrecognize it. But all its history is written inside it. It is said that this temple has gone almost 20 feet deep under the earth and that only its top side is visible and martand temple anantnag : martand sun temple is located about 9 km northeast of anantnag district. It was constructed by king lalitaditya, a kshatriya from surya dynasty, in honour to bhaskar or the sun god. This temple is significant of exemplary aryan structure, which gives a glimpse into the skill and art of kashmiri hindus. Martand temple was made out of square limestones similar to the grecian patterned pillars, overnight stay back in a Deluxe hotel in Srinagar.
